Two teams entered the court in Columbus on Sunday night looking for their school’s first Sweet 16 appearance in history. The No. 9 seed Florida Atlantic Owls are going to head to New York for that, as they defeated No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson, 78-70, to stop their Cinderella journey in the NCAA Tournament. The FDU Knights came out hot in the second half, outscoring FAU 12-1 after being down seven to take a five-point lead. And after a big Bryan Greenlee three-pointer to put FAU up eight, Davis got himself a steal on the ensuing FDU drive. FDU never quite, as Ansley Almonor knocked in a three to cut the lead to six, but FAU eventually hit two more free throws and held out for the victory. Davis finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double, while playing well on the defensive end, too. They are a deep team that gets contributions from all over, which is why they were able to run with FDU’s hyper-aggressive pace the entire night. Roberts went 8-of-22 from the field for 20 points, but he missed 10 of his 12 three-point attempts, which could’ve made a big difference. FDU also struggled to start the game, as they missed some easy opportunities at the rim. FLORIDA ATLANTIC DRILLS BUCKET WITH 2.5 SECONDS LEFT TO ADVANCE IN MARCH MADNESS OVER MEMPHISSean Moore, the Knights’ Swiss Army knife in the huge upset win over No. 1 seed Purdue on Friday, had 14 points, while Joe Munden Jr. had 13 on 5-of-11 from the field. The Knights were trying to become the first team to make it to the Sweet 16 as a No. 16 seed. Though they fell short, they made history as the second team ever to beat a No. 1 seed to advance in the tournament. Ryan Nembhard had a career-high 30 points and No. 6 seed Creighton found its shooting touch to beat third-seeded Baylor 85-76 on Sunday night and earn a spot in the Sweet 16 for the second time in three seasons.With Baylor heavily focused on containing big man Ryan Kalkbrenner, Nembhard and the Bluejays went to work from outside. The seizure of an American company’s quarry facility in Mexico by the Mexican military and local state police has sparked outrage among former and current government officials, as well as appeals for the Biden administration and the Mexico’s U.S. ambassador to intervene.According to Vulcan Materials, a Birmingham, Alabama-based company and the largest producer of construction aggregates in the U.S., members of the Mexican navy, local state police, along with federal investigators, entered the quarry just south of Playa del Carmen in Mexico’s Quintana Roo state on the night of March 14. They then forced the company to allow CEMEX, a Mexican-owned materials company, to unload a shipment of cement from a ship in the port.Vulcan previously leased land to and provided offloading and handling services for CEMEX at the site, but the agreement expired last December and talks for a renegotiated contract broke down. The company said CEMEX completed unloading the forced shipment on Friday. However, the military and police have remained in control of the property and have given no indication they plan to leave, the company said.”I am writing to request that your government immediately order its forces and officials to leave our private property,” Vulcan Chairman and CEO J. Thomas Hill wrote in a letter to Mexican Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma Barragán on Thursday, two days following the initial seizure.AMERICAN CITIZEN ‘KIDNAPPED FROM HER RESIDENCE’ IN MEXICO, FBI SAYS”The government’s participation in this gross violation of our property rights is yet another example of the government’s arbitrary and illegal treatment of Vulcan and its investments in Mexico. This occupation must cease immediately,” he added.Vulcan has been in tension with Mexico for months after Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador forced a shutdown of the quarry’s operations in May 2022. This is insane,” he wrote on Twitter, including the security footage video of the military entering the facility.Security footage from Vulcan’s Mexican quarry on March 14 obtained by Fox News Digital appears to show members of the Mexican military and Quintana Roo state police arriving at the main gate of the quarry and forcing the guard to allow them inside. The armed group was accompanied by what appeared to be CEMEX personnel.According to Vulcan, the military told on-site personnel that they had an order to bring the CEMEX vessel into the port to unload its contents. The company said, however, that the military did not present or possess any court order allowing them to legally enter the property.WAYS AND MEANS CHAIR CONDEMNS MEXICO’S THREAT TO CAMPAIGN AGAINST REPUBLICANS: ‘UNACCEPTABLE’The company also suggested the move could be Lopez Obrador’s first step in taking control of its port under the guise of “national security” but with the intention of using it to import materials from Cuba to go toward a railway system called the Mayan Train currently being constructed in the region.Vulcan also speculates that CEMEX will seek to occupy the property with the support of the military and police for an unknown period and distribute its unloaded materials to its customers. (Vulcan Materials)In response to the seizure, Vulcan filed for federal civil and criminal protections and lodged a general federal complaint against the Mexican military, Quintana Roo state police, local prosecution authorities and CEMEX for acting without a warrant and for breaching a previous federal court injunction concerning the land. It also said it had been denied access to any of the files that supposedly supported the actions taken against Vulcan.Vulcan provided Fox a copy of a subsequent March 16 court order by Judge Angélica del Carmen Ortuño Suárez, the Second District judge in the state of Quintana Roo that ordered the military to cease its actions, but says the force has still not left the premises. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP Fox News Digital reached out to the U.S. State Department for comment but did not receive an immediate response.  Ambassador Moctezuma’s office and the offices of CEMEX also did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Fox News host Mark Levin defended the United States’ role in the war in Ukraine, saying it is similar to the support the French provided to the U.S. during the American Revolution. “We would not have won the American Revolution without the help of the French,” he argued Sunday on “Life Liberty & Levin.” “So starting in 1778, right to the end of the Revolutionary War, the French gave us support. Ninety percent of all, what I’ll call bullets, fired during the War of Independence were manufactured by the French.”Levin continued, highlighting how the French cut off the British fleet at the Battle of Yorktown and pounded British encampments, ultimately leading to British Gen. Two dogs in McAllen, Texas died last week after getting attacked by the Africanized Bee, also known as killer bees, according to reports.NBC station KVEO in Brownsville, Texas reported that the dogs died at a McAllen home after getting attacked by bees. A million aggressive bees were found in a home that is threatening an El Paso neighborhood. Louisiana police asked for the public’s help last week in determining where two suspects were when a man went missing in 1984, and later found dead.The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said one of the suspects, Patricia Tito, 58, is in custody for a homicide she committed in Shreveport in 2003. Patricia Tito, now 58, and Delvin Avard Sibley, 76, are persons of interest in the murder of Lester Rome, who went missing in Louisiana in 1984 and was later found in the bottom of a well. But two years later, the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation after human remains were discovered in a water well in Many, Louisiana.For 35 years, the remains were left unidentified, and the case became known as “The Man in the Well.” It was determined that the person who was killed died of blunt force trauma and possible stab wounds.
