Almost half of all Blacks, Hispanics and Asians support the Supreme Court rulings last week regarding college admissions criteria. Black men are leaving the Democratic Party in record numbers and minorities in blue urban cities are demanding school choice and charter school options, voters are demanding changes.
This isn’t about hate. It’s really about love. We all want to live together safely and successfully. Where else but in America does the dream of our forefathers remain the dream of recent legal immigrants?
Education doesn’t begin in college. Toddlers are in school as four-year-old students and too many are already being supervised by people who would fail to meet standards in fair evaluations.
Meet some teachers, principals, and board of education officials who have been involved in some questionable, even criminal activity. Because of their connections to teacher’s unions, administrators unions, elected officials and minority organizations, not only have they received salaries and benefits, but their deficiencies have cost students quality education opportunities.
In a world of fair competition and merit-based staffing, you would probably never use them as your doctor, lawyer or accountant. Why were/are they allowed to be near our daughters and sons? Why are they getting our taxpayer dollars for their income?
This is just a small sample from Queens, New York. Multiply this by every borough in Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit and Baltimore and you have a virus more contagious than COVID.
Meet The Dubious Bunch
- Namita Dwarka, the controversial and often investigated principal of William Cullen Bryant HS, was promoted to Deputy Superintendent in 2021. Dwarka was given a $198,000 salary, to serve as deputy to Josephine Van-Ess, superintendent of the Queens South HS district, overseeing 29 schools. This, was after multiple complaints of a regents grade changing scandal and the missing $195 thousand dollars that were collected for gym uniforms, locks, and food. Apparently, a DOE investigation found no receipts for the money allegedly spent.
- Rushell White is a NYCDOE Director of Continuous Improvement. According to her Linkedin page, her job engages in a personal and professional journey for growth and learning in order to support educational leaders on their journey toward continuous improvement. It is with the understanding that in order to lead for the future one has to continually engage in learning from the past. Her past included a less-than-stellar performance as principal of the Virgil I. Grissom Middle School, MS 226, where she made headlines for insulting Hindus, Jews, and whites. She was also involved in an almost fatal situation regarding a teacher she supposedly disliked. The parents even coordinated a change.org petition to fire her. The school had a math proficiency rate of 26% and a reading proficiency of 33%.
- Principal Antonio K”Tori resigned in 2019 after other allegations accused him of monetary conflicts of interest similar to those charges of 2005. He ended his career with a salary of almost $200,000 and full benefits and a pension. According to NYCDOE records, in 2005, K’Tori was investigated for “insubordination.” His punishment was a 90-day suspension. He bought supplies from unauthorized vendors, circumvented the lottery system for children he wanted in his school, and unsuccessfully tried to bar special education services in his school. In 2014, Jewish teacher Larry Brenner was fired through a racist termination hearing. Brenner, a tenured teacher, was given a book storage closet as a classroom and was told in 2009, “you white teachers are hurting my little black children.” In February 2019, a black teacher, Shaunte Penniston, was awarded $523,000 after a Brooklyn federal jury found K’Tori guilty of sexual harassment AND the Department of Education had almost 200 complaints against K’Tori and basically turned a “blind eye.” The worst incident was the highly publicized criminal case of a teacher found guilty of sexually abusing young elementary students.
Simon Watts Case Under K’Tori and Kathleen Cole
Simon Watts was an elementary school teacher who was arrested in 2010 and charged with forcing 8 and 9 year old students to touch his penis on multiple occasions. He was convicted in 2013 and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
In 2019, a new trial was scheduled for Watts after the Appellate Division, Second Department, decided that the Supreme Court’s decision deprived the defendant of his right to a fair trial. In 2020, his sentence was slashed to eight years following his appeal.
As of 2021. Neveah Thompson, one of the five students who were molested by Watts won a $16 million civil judgment and in February 2021, another student sued Simon Watts.
Both K’Tori and Cole are retired, enjoying full benefits on your tax dollars and at the expense of your children.
