According to the Russian prison authority, Alexei Navalny, a 47-year-old Russian democracy activist, has reportedly passed away in a Soviet-era gulag situated north of the Arctic Circle. Navalny is survived by his wife, Yulia Navalnaya, and their two children.
Navalny played a significant role in organizing protests against the government and actively campaigned for reforms to combat corruption in Russia.
He also stood up against President Vladimir Putin and his administration during his run for office.
In 2021, Navalny received a prison sentence of 2.5 years.
There are reports stating that Navalny became sick and passed away during a walk. His wife and lawyers are currently awaiting official confirmation of his death.
Navalny had long been an adversary of Russian President Vladmir Putin and faced persecution for many years, including instances of poisoning and imprisonment.
Recently, George Papadopoulos shared a video on Twitter, which allegedly revealed Navalny’s involvement in planning a revolution with the assistance of British spies.
